Singing fun

Hello everyone,

Personally, what I love doing, is singing.

I wouldn't say I do this well, but this is such a great feeling to sing... maybe the best way to release the feelings - good or bad - stucked inside.

I love Hong Kong because of its Karaoke concept... The country I come from does not have this culture of singing.

I am now thinking of a project for a little while...

I would like to find some people in Hong Kong, any nationality, age or sex, who like singing.

The concept would be to meet, once in a while, and sing, individually or in group, in the street. Sing anything, any language, with music or accapella, doesn't matter... just enjoy.

Then, if we are not too bad, we could eventually get some money from it - money that we could be redistributed to beggars in the street...

That what I believe could be a good way to enjoy singing, eventually entertain people, and maybe help people in need...

I do not know if this is a good idea, but I think that having some fun is never bad :)

Anyone interested, or any comment?

rallo 2011-7-29 06:00 PM

LOL speechless.

rallo 2011-7-29 06:01 PM

I am terrible at singing but i do like singing. Sounds like you are good at it. i wouldnt mind if you are willing to teach me for free. :smile_30:

french_expat 2011-7-29 06:15 PM

nonono, that's absolutly not true! I am not good, I just love it.

But I noticed that HK people are pretty open minded and free (you see people doing strange sports and movements in the street, other singing, you got karaoke... and no-one judges you... that is something I really admire here).

I just think that, especially in group, having fun all together is nice... But I may be wrong~

bbpeople 2011-7-30 01:17 PM

i wouldn't mind doing some a cappella or theatre music
would be fun =]

rallo 2011-7-30 04:53 PM

can you share a clip of you singing?

french_expat 2011-7-30 09:46 PM

Oh, you can sing Chinese song.  What a surprise!  Ha Ha!

french_expat 2011-7-31 10:19 PM

Well... I can sing in Chinese, doesn't mean I undertand what I am singing ! :smile_13:

ahhaha

Are you interested by the concept?

rallo 2011-8-1 08:56 AM

I am hardly anything close to the level you are at... :smile_42:  I wish i was as good as you are.

french_expat 2011-8-1 05:43 PM

You can't compare people's quality... Singing comes from the heart you put inside.

The hardest thing to deal with is not being shy, and for this, HK ppl are much better than European! :smile_35:

So, how many ppl do we have now?

Rallo, bbpeople, sandywong89 and myslef?

That's few still... Could we find more?

rallo 2011-8-1 07:19 PM

are you french?

french_expat 2011-8-1 11:53 PM

Yes I am :)

Oh, by the way, if some people play guitar, violin or... I dunno, anything, they are welcome too !!!

Sure!

Please send me, I'd be glad helping you out with that!

And, yes, indeed, you are absolutly welcome in the team :)

Ok, here is my suggestion... Could we, in some way, share our email addresses or MSN or skype or whatever for those who wanna be part of it?
I guess it is forbidden to share such things on the forum, we probably need to use Private Message... But the thing is that all is in chinese, and I got no idea where this is and how to do ^^

Some help here? :P

french_expat 2011-8-9 09:14 AM

wow, if only it could be true, i'd love to! haha

Could someone help me with those Private Messages? I am pretty sure it exists on this forum, right?

jimbo86 2011-8-9 03:09 PM

so how long have u spend in France?

We have french as our other official language, which I knew very little at all.
I speak white or engrish only.
I love their cars Citroen  DS  aka Deese Goddess,  2CV and SM.
I saw a SM couple of days ago.
The Tour de france is something else.
cheers from
Hongcouver

french_expat 2011-8-10 03:10 PM

Lets say it the other way round: I've been in HK for the past three years.

Back in France, I would live in a big house and sing as much as I could.

Here... well, here I live in a tiny flat, and couldn't sing as I'd like, coz I wouldn't want to disturb my neighbours!

I need some freedom, and I'm sure I can find some other people here to do the same ! :)

If only someone would show me how to use the Private Messages...

SesameElmomo 2011-8-11 12:12 AM

There are in fact some voluntary groups who do a ceppella singing in Hong Kong and perform for art fest or other occassions.  You may want to start from there.

There was one I heard name A sharp singers but I am not sure if they are still running.
There are also a long of programs at Fringe Club which you may check it out and find people who has passion in singing and music too?

You only have "帖子10 積分11" not enough for you to send private msg to other ar~~~ You need to more post . :smile_o13:

Anyway,

If you are going to send msg to the members, you could either
1) find "發短消息" just below their profile pic; or
2) find the button" 短消息" at the top right hand corner after you log in. But you need to input their names by yourself

:smile_o07:

SesameElmomo:
Great input, thanks!
But it also gives me the opportunity to re-explain briefly the concept:
A sharp singers is a band of Accapella singers: means they kinda create the music and lyrics with only their voices.
My idea was much wider: singing accapella, with a tape, with some instruments... doesn't matter. Singing alone, in duet, in a band... doesn't matter.

The concept would be much more like:
we meet (5 people, 10 people, 20 people... all's good!), choose a place to go, just go there and sing whatever we want to. Bring some lyrics with us, some material such as HiFi or instruments if needed... You know, just casual fun between people who want to enjoy! Actually, you find this kind of thing in Mongkok pretty often, or in TST East...
Doesn't have to be very organized or professional... Could become though, but that's much more a concept of "lets have fun together".

A kind of Karaoke... but outside :)

Valeriehhlee:

Thanks, very clear explanation :)
Sadly... it shows me I can't do much... Well... Any suggestion for communication? Could I give my email here, or is it forbidden? (no worries, I would create one JUST for this purpose :))

valeriehhlee 2011-8-14 04:55 PM

No sure if it's forbidden to give your email here. but quite sure that not many ppl do that.

I suggest you could chat with more ppl here. . :smile_30: or  Just go to others post, leave you comment. then you could get enough points real quick.
I forgot how many points you need to get before you could use the PM function so just leave as many comments as you can la~~~ :smile_o05:

Hello there!

As I didn't find any better solution, I've created a mail address.

Here is what I suggest: if you want to join, please send me an email on "singingfunhk@yahoo.com".

If we got enough people (lets say at least 5), then we organize something, this weekend or the next :)

Oh, and if you could remind those who participated to this topic, that would be nice of you guys !

Thanks, hope to see many of you :)
