I always think watching TV is a good way to learn a language. You could replace that with podcasts or TV shows in your phones. Do that during commute everyday or 30-minute before bed time.

You need to also talk la. There gotta be some groups/places you can practice conversation. Songs never really work for me either. For recommendation, how about Game of Thrones? They are at season 2 now. It's a good shows.

You will need to actually use it on a daily bases to see improvement, try using it more and be confident about using it.

writing is good but it will only imporve mainly vocab and grammer. Speaking more builds up your confidence. Maybe meet some more english speaking friends or expats

right but where to meet those foreigners? Meet foreigners is difficult, make friend with them is more difficult.

In front of them, I cannot speak freely as I care too much about the sentence structure when I speak. At the end, it seems like I am reading out a sentence in front of them. How to speak freely in front of them?

That I don't know, I don't currently live in HK. Spent most of my life in UK so i never really had to encounter this problem. But surely you can go meet english speaking people in LKF if you going down for a drink or something.
As i say it is a confidence thing, don't worry about how it sounds. If they chose to laugh at you then just find some one else to talk to. Once you speak more it will become more free flowing.

If this picture is the true likeness  of u then most guys would give u the total undivided attention even if u stutters or speak thru the side of your mouth.

Do you think joining english course is useful to adult learning? Such as, Wall StrXXt or English ToXX.

tigger716 2012-5-13 01:30 PM

I learned most of my colloquial english from rap and hip hop music. I'd suggest you should do the same!
