How to tackle sleepness in afternoon?

my job is quite boring, always feel sleepy in afternoon after lunch. Sigh

It doesn't help when your job is so boring and monotonous. I used to feel so drowsy not only after lunch but also in the morning. You either take a break and wash your face more often.

I think "go toilet to wash my face" can tackle temporary sleepness only , maybe eat some snack or buy coffee to refresh myself.  haha

Can you play games on phone during those sleepy moments? That does help me, but that for lunch break only, can't play during work hours.

1. Sleep early the night before: Sorry, there's just no alternative to tackle sleepiness apart from getting enough sleep.

2. Eat fresh/ refresh: Particularly in hot summer time, heavy foods such as  deep fried stuff really make it worse! My experience is try something more refreshing, like sushi, sandwiches, or even salad if that fills your stomach, anything except oily cooking could improve your situation.

3. Snacks: Well... you know why :loveliness:

4. Wash face: Again particularly in hot summer time; I found a 'clean & clear' i.e. free of oil & dust etc keeps me awake as well! But that's only if I actually used face wash products, not just plain water - which does little in removing the oil & dirt etc...

5. Coffee/ Energy drinks (?): It helps only if you use these once in a blue moon, for example before attending some important meetings etc, on a regular basis however --- it's became useless!!

if the washrm is outside the office area like mine, i would suggest u to go there once u wanna fall asleep haha:smile_13:

your comments are really helpful, :loveliness: let me try tmr afternoon, but i wonder just use cold water to wash face rather than Clean & Clear face care products.

Well in theory that also works, but in my opinion for a shorter term that's all~

Oh again, the "clean & clear" that I've mentioned doesn't mean the product brand;
but a clean (as in not dirty) and clear (not clogged by oil and dirt and others) skin that makes people feel fresh and energized...

snacks and coffee are my only solutions....but I would only drink coffee twice a week because i don't wanna get addicted (you know it loses its effect if you drink regularly and you end up drinking more and more which is bad for you...)

well I guess it helps a great deal if you develop a crush on your colleague...I guaranteed you'll stay awake entire day

Or you may consider sleeping after finishing your lunch during lunch break hours.
Maybe only 20 minutes, but it does help a lot.

I'm a coffee addict, I need at least 3 cups a day to stay awake (1 morning, 1 after lunch, 1 mid/late-afternoon) on a working day...
But my experience was that having less carbs for lunch is better as less energy is sent to the digestive system so I feel more awake, and as time went by I started to have light lunch (salad, sandwich etc.)  Anyhow, getting enough sleep the night before is the most important factor... LOL

fluids

You should take plenty of fluids and eat more fruits and vegetables(sound like mother)!  If you go to the toilet and have good output, maybe you less likely to feel sleepy.  Sometimes, too much of an appetite at lunch causes some people's bodies to have more blood flowing to stomach and intestines than to the brain!

Some other tips:
- if you have been working long hours for several days straight for a deadline, taking 10 or 15-minute "power naps" is said to help some people.  I must admit it does not work for me.
- spread your meals throughout the day to maintain a more consistent blood sugar level.  Other than inadequate sleep, irregular blood sugar levels are a big cause of afternoon fatigue.
- get up and do some walking or stretching to increase your heart rate.

To sum up, as others have said, probably lack of sleep or bad quality of sleep is the main cause, and this can only be helped by getting adequate rest on a regular basis.

quit your job,finding the new one
because your job lack of incentive,motivaton and enthusiasitc
and maybe your ability tremendeous superior,you can bring off all of the arduous staff
you don't discover any drawback or severity,lead up to cannot  reach your prospect

try not to be full when you are having your lunch~being full makes you sleep easily....(for my personal experience)

Try to do challenging task in the afternoon --- well, I either end up busy for a whole afternoon or get bored very soon as i couldn't solve the problem.
