很懷念昔日這樣子的灣仔海傍景色，寧靜純樸。現時的灣仔海傍已淪為繁囂的「旅遊勝地」，那些土裏土氣、庸俗不堪，與週維現代建築不協調的什麼「回歸紀念X」，睇見就令土生土長的香港人........(下刪若干字):smile_39:

our old cantonese saying of fortune telling = " shining at the frogs "
i guess if u use strong light shine at these animals u will mesmerized them, so then cant move for a moment, as u can grab them.
during the old days we have to use the power hand pump kerosene lights.
they make a loud noise as the high temp gas is burning.
we spend few yrs living in shatin which is off the power line, so no 220 v power or juice as we call it.
we rely on these powerful kerosene light, or those using a wick.
the k lamp does require some expertise to set them up, as i was always like to play with things, i took care of them.
the mantle or the part makes the light glow is by burnt a silk small bag or mantle as it called, we under high temp it will fluoresce, the down side is the can be very brittle, any small shock will come apart, so after so long the mantle will dis-integrate, then u need to install another new one.
these lights were used by a lot of folks selling or making a business on temple st or any open market where 220 v power is hard to come by.
have seen some richer folks ran power with a honda gas generator.
can be very exp, need deep pockets to operate them every night.
