question about aromaticity

Being planar is one of the criteria for a molecule to be aromatic. However, how to determine whether a molecule is planar or not? Take the following two examples.

Both are not planar and not aromatic. C10H10 is not planar and therefore cannot be aromatic. On the other hand, C7H8 is by all means not aromatic as the conjugated system is not cyclic continuous.

It is usually not easy to tell by intuition whether a cyclic compound is planar or not. One has to look at all possible steric constraints carefully. Usually, for neutral monocyclic CnHn where n > 6, the molecules are not planar because of steric constraints.
