hi bros, ive just enrolled in CUHK JD, im from a local uni and wanna work in DOJ upon graduation of PCLL, not only TC.

but i do hear it is competitive to apply for the said position, so i wanna ask what sort of candidates they are looking for? could anyone share with me the information?

for example, they want people with overseas experiences or extensive extra-curricular activities? or what i need is just a high GPA? or LLM would help?

thanks bros! :loveliness:

They are looking for -
1. candidates with high GPA
2. candidates looking "good" to them
3. your face your fate

I am just kidding, the above statement is not intended to be true.

thats not far from the truth.
plus many things to do with the way way the sun and the moons path too.
nonetheless is a good aim.
as long as u secure the pcll u're in the driver seat.
when u pass by 7-11 u know u'll never have to work there 24/7.

I do not think the top graduates go to DOJ as a lot of them join big chambers or international solicitor firm.

May be for the trainee post in DOJ, it is a bit competitive, but not for longterm  or contract post as a government counsel. pay is not very good compared with big international city firm/ large chamber.
Even UOL 2:2 can obtian a place there, I heard.

UOL high 2:2 can go in City a few years ago (2007_2009), may not nowadays

lier_leung 2013-6-26 20:16

"City pcll "likes overseas LLB graduates (even UK distance learning in HK, eg UOL, wolverphamton or Nottingham Trent), even 2:2 . It likes Australian graduates as well.  Perhaps it thinks overseas graduates were better than its own students la. But it was before 2009. May not be the same nowadays

then again if u get flight time so often plus u have a steady pay cheque.
My fnd's minion left her to join the doj here in van. bc few yrs ago. Her reason is she can work on a case regardless what the costs to the clients, as the govt is cutting her a chq every mth and as long as she can justify to her bozz as it can be a viable case as opposed to a witch hunt or trying to shake the tree waiting patiently for something to come down.
After a few yrs under your belt then u can fly the chicken coop much easier. By then u may earn a reputation as a very tough crown, you'll no doubt attract all the bad elements lining up at your Chamber's door.
