After seeking other's opinions here, I have made a comparison again.
Apart from the tuition fee, in my opinions, CityU SF Eng is much better than PolyU UGC English.
1. The Department of English of CityU have more resources and higher reputation than that of PolyU's.
2. CityU SF Eng really focuses on English while I need to study pth and Chinese writing in PolyU.
3. I could study Grammar, cultures, business English and writing, and linguistics, and also practise reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in CityU while PolyU mainly focuses on business and media English. I am more interested in studying CityU than PolyU.
Other reasons:
1. Both are full-time mode of study;
2. Most of the courses in CityU SF Eng are taught by the professors in the Department of English;
3. I could choose 4 GE courses in CityU which are worth studying.
You may have a look on my post before:

My cgpa is 3.5X, nearly 3.6
I think you may have a question in mind that why I do not have the offer of English Studies.
The reason is I have not applied for it.

I studied in HKCC.
During the 2 years of study in HKCC, I studied Grammar and linguistics courses such as Grammar in Context (which means syntax and includes grammaticality, tenses, voices and aspects, auxiliaries, noun phrases in context, relativisation, genre analysis, determiners, and grammatical functions) and Foundations of Linguistics (morphology, syntax, semantics, phonetics, phonology, pragmatics, sociolinguistics and language acquisition are included), business-related courses like Introduction to Marketing, communication and oral courses including Introduction to Communication Studies and Oral Business English (phonetics is included).
Other courses I studied in HKCC includes Information Technology, Statistics, Introduction to Psychology, Negotiation Skills, Business Writing Skills (that is how to write captions, company profile, executive summary and implementation writing and to use taglines, sounding patterning and repetitions to promote features and benefits of products and service), Social Psychology, Intercultural Communication in Business, and Languages, Cultures and Communication (which means Discourse analysis).
In HKCC, I have acquired much different knowledge and a lot of courses are worth studying.
Therefore, CityU EP could give me another chance to study more in different aspects because I could choose GE courses, and the core subjects are worth studying too.
On the other hand, PolyU UGC Eng cannot suit my needs in the above. I think that could be another reason why I still select CityU EP.

did you purposely not apply for english studies? cos normally students apply for es and ep at the same time so if they didn't have the offer from es, they would normally have chances to go ep!

For English Studies, there is the requirement that applicants should get UE C or UE D + ielts 7.0.
As I only got UE D with no ielts, I did not apply for English Studies.
Another reason is after reading the programme structure, students need to study literature when studying English Studies, which I am not very interested in.
What I am interested in is grammar and linguistics.
Therefore, I only applied for EP and received the conditional offer on 17 April before the application deadline of EP (30/4).

Sorry to be picky on your English. As you stated, you studied in HKCC so everything should pretty much be in PAST tense. Please take a second look at your grammar. :)
Knowledge is UNcountable and cannot be referred to "many" ... :smile_13:

Thank you for reminding my typo. For knowledge, "much" or "a lot of" should be used. :)
"As you stated, you studied in HKCC so everything should pretty much be in PAST tense."
I think what you refer to is the following sentence:
In HKCC, I have acquired much different knowledge and a lot of courses are worth studying.
have acquired:
I use present perfect because I want to make a connection between the past action (I acquired much different knowledge in HKCC) and the present result (choosing EP).
are:
I use the simple present here as it is to refer to general descriptions.
What you said: As you stated, you studied in HKCC so everything should pretty much be in PAST tense <<< That is what the teachers in secondary schools teach students.
However, I would like to point out that it is not a must to use simple past in all verbs when referring to past events. It depends on the writer's/speaker's wishes.
Therefore, before you said everything should pretty much be in PAST tense, please try to understand why the writer uses that tense/aspect/voice instead of just saying that everything should be in simple past. :)
