I am an undergraduate student from the university of british columbia. Are there internships from law firms in hong kong? I just want to get a sense of the law industries. I know chinese at a limited capacity (readings fine, writing not so much). Academically speaking, i am doing great.

Where would i go about applying for these internships? Just shoot them emails? or through some strings pulling?

Depends what you meant by internship.

Internship in the legal world tends to mean summer/winter vacation work experience program for law students, usually with the intention to secure a training contract with the firm.

Since you are an undergraduate student studying in canada, it must mean you have yet to become a law student. So I think you are looking for a place as a "summer student". In that case, i do suggest pulling some strings if you can, otherwise, just try emailing firms.

You may also try to apply for marshalship with judges. I've seen a non-law student doing such before.

marshalship is also a term solely used to describe the situation where pupil barrister are working and learning under the judges. There are indeed non-law students staying with judges but not under this route and probably not for overseas students

Alright, you may be absolutely right about the term.
But I have seen two before, and they were in fact oversea non-law students. Although they were introduced together as the other marshalls, I cannot be certain whether they were "marshalls" in the proper sense of the word as I did not ask them "are you really a marshall".

若果你對IP甚至LAW都冇認識, 你去做INTERN又會有什麼得著呢? 反之, 間FIRM又可以ASSIGN什麼IP有關的工作給你也是一個疑問

Write some letters to the lawyers you want to learn from.
