i received my walking papers when i was 28 but a different  profession though.
Many lawyers grad here about that age or much older.
Sadly in HK most employers consider 40 to be the age limit to render u redundant, not sure what to do should u live to 65 or 75 or beyond?
Perhaps See Why needs to be think for a final solution.

Yeah, and I am sure anyone could get a trainee job in a City Firm in the US of A regardless of his/her age. Yeah, dream on.

The average age of JD students in US seems to be about 29 to 30.

for your information, in USA  as soon as u grad , u take bar admission exam when u pass u can hang out your name as a lawyer.
Then again only accredited Uni or college conferred LLB or JD are eligible to write state bar exams.
If your GPA are high then u have a good chance of getting recruited by the big International firm.
Since the Wall st crashed 5-6 yrs ago, law profession is not as good as it was. many law grads cannot find good work.
many law firms are not making a killing on the billable hours.
Canada has the "article " period, is similar to TC or pupillage. Is 2 yrs i am not too sure anymore. Canadian lawyers are qualified as bar & soli
both titles together. The law firm sponsor u to do bar admission course. I suppose most of them pass.
Foreign grads can do a can equivalent of can LLB then do take the bar admission course too to become a lic lawyer here.

some can be in their 40s as they have been working in other fields before.
Some were medical drs, engineers or simply started late in life.
One guy i talked to, he worked as a Can military lawyer. He started off as a paratropper, then went back to LS and became one and close to retirement now.
