if u have to play such game there will be risk, life is full of risk too.
people will always laugh behind your back regardless anyways, they will look for your weakness.
thats why is good to be super nice to people below u when going up,
then u get a softer landing should u come down in a hurry.
when coming down people will step on u if they remember u being a jerk!
too many of us usually treat ppl shabbily when going up though.

dr sun yet san, he risked his life several times to inorder to became the first president.
nelson mandella spend 1/4 century behind bars.
george washington was practically a loser but somehow they trusted him to lead the army.
winston churchill performed very bad in school, only thing he did well was fencing.
even fuhrer adolf was incarcerated too, notwithstanding his mein kempf earned him enough $$ to buy a mercedes then.
so if u fear ppl laugh at u, u mind as well sit home and do nothing.
as the saying less u do less fault u have, if u do nothing u have nothing wong. Life is always an ongoing battle.

If you have over 10 years PQE as counsel and are earning over HKD 2m a year (from your legal practice), then you should be fine... ( i guess)

There is no test as such. You need to have been called to the bar for at least 10 years. And that you are making a decent living indicates that you are reasonably successful and stand a reasonable chance to succeed in your application.

if one can be cranking 2 mil /yr then it doesn't matter what kind of title anyways, notwithstanding people call u a mother all through the rest of the year and not including the mother's day.

2m a year might be a lot for most people in HK.
But top SCs can make up to 10-30 million dollars a year! haha
Word has it that before R Yuen SC became SJ, he was milking 30m a year at top chambers in PP.

This is why many in this profession chase prestige more than money (not saying they are not related)...And I'd like to think prestige is still noble amongst the barrister circle...
To each his own...Nothing wrong chasing the prestige...If you are not doing it at the expense of others...

many of us will not want to be a judge though, it can be a boring life!
Have any of u had any real talk with a judge and how they reflect their work?
is kind of funny on an article, when judges receive a bad comment or criticism he cannot fight back. At least thats in the can legal system.
Plus so many rules & regulations to limit ones conduct & behaviour.
many yrs ago, there was a sting operation in van on ladies of the night.
There was a search on a ladies little black telephone book.
It revealed two judges' phone number and their peculiar preferences. Something not appropriate to repeat in the public. Both blokes resigned so fast and caused a lot fo embarrassment & griefs too.
