What is the position?  Are you confident you can find a job with 22k salary?

find job and playing with the market has not a big difference.
We all need to understand the timing is the essence.
should u stay out of the work too long then your don't look as good infront of the next prospective employer.
your desirability start to wane with time.

the more time u sit out the more $$ u lose.
should u accept the 18 now u may have a chance to climb up again.
mind u many bozzes are real arschlocks, so dont worry too much. they will never treat u as equal. Unless u have more to bring to the table.

Marketing Executive.
Well, my ability worth it, even far more, just that the HRs don't think so. Rarely got interviews.

Understood, never met a good boss, got a good company before. The funny point is, I stated I helped my previous company to get a 35% increase on revenue, seems no HR interested.

doing a good job is akin to peeing inside your pants.
is a warm feeling but nobody noticed it though.

if HK work culture does not jive with u then make plans to jump the sinking ship.

it does look like is going to get tougher too.

the HR got their constraints too, kind of ham fisted .

good co. tend to retain better staffs, but being in hk i really don't know, even in N A, mist co look at staffs as expendables.

thats why many of us obtain license so it can stay with us until we throw in the towel.

Yes, it sounds stupid...since I was still in university, they were bragging about the importance of English proficiency...I got an 8.0 on IELTS, never got me any interview chance, needless to say, job offer...and the HRs have no clue about GMAT I suppose?

I got some sort of sales experience, and marketing knowledge. I emphasized who I helped my previous employers to reposition themselves, or at least their portfolio, and then occupancy improved, revenue improved, etc. No one care. Seems that they either have difficulty telling the difference between marketing and sales, or they think marketing means advertising.

Don't be too serious about any Chinese stories. You never know what background they have. And as a matter of fact, everyone knows that girls with pretty face wouldn't have too much difficulty to excel as a salesperson.

They probably just want people just to execute sales and make deals, rather than sales strategy people

That's the point. They always think that what they are making is fine, and I should just use their existing way to help get the things out. Using my own method and making the revenue boosts 30% or 50% isn't what I want to do, though I can do it. What I wanna do is, I'm telling you either made the wrong thing, or made the right thing in the wrong way, listen to me, you can boost a couple of times more.

quite a couple of my previous bosses or supervisor are like that. They wanted me to use their method to sell out what they are producing. I of course was using my own method, that's why I can boost their rubbish by 30% or even 50%, but that's not what I wanna do. What I wanna do is, "I tell you, yours are wrong. Just dump it, do something new."

Just like a certain slimming company. They have never chosen a right spokesperson all over the years, if they keep hiring marketing guys to promote their company, but they keep using the wrong spokesperson, it can't help.

And someone just reminded me a point. My last boss, of course knows nothing and thinks that I was as lazy as his own son, whose relationship with the boss sucks. And the new GM, who didn't even know my contribution to the revenue, but just dealt with me a couple of times in 2 or 3 weeks, told me that if he has the say, he would add me 100% salary to have me stay.

jimbo86 2014-5-24 04:06 PM

or u do it another way
take the job at 18k, and set a base line for sales, IE 1 mil. so u propose to them what if I can crank it up 30%  in so many mths , and what kind of bonus will I get?
As long as u get it in writing, 3 mths later when the sales hit your agreed target u collect the extra bonus as promised.
maybe u need to convince them this way, as long as u're confident that u will be able to increase the $.
Often times is not easy to convince ppl that u're capable.
At least this way they're not paying u extra for something they haven't seen yet.
important part in life is to find a way for impasses.

It will work if the new company is an acceptable one. I've taken a look at part of their portfolio, I wouldn't stay long. They have a Chinese restaurant in the middle of industrial area in Kwun Tong. I know nothing would help. The solution is to shut it down, turns it into a steakhouse, otherwise, no one will go for dinner. Do you think any boss would listen to this, if he just asked how I would do advertising on it?

Knew it, if I'm confident that I can secure a job in Japan or Singapore, would have left already. The key point is the old ass in their 50s or late 40s, earning a lot, knowing nothing, but not giving chances to the younger ones.

Why did you quit your last job? As you have clarified that one of your precious companies would offer you 24K, why didn't you just take that?
I'm not a marketing expert, but telling a Chinese restaurant to change it to a steakhouse doesn't sound like what a marketing professional would do.

steak house and chinese rest are kind of mutual exclusive.
different sets of knowledge.
just the vino alone can several yrs to know.
i can only tell they are rosso from bianco.
and they are not the real fire water.
