A funny phenomena exists in MNC/foreign co in HK..

My job requires me to work at clients' offices so I can see many companies' work environments for their employees.
Needless to say, MNC undoubtedly provide much more comfortable environment for their staff than local companies do so.
However, I subsequently found out that many MNC or foreign companies (in HK) face the same situation that the gender imbalance of their local employees  is so remarkable.Their female employees outnumber the male employees significantly (almost 9:1)

When I was on college, i took OB course (organizational behavior) and knew that gender imbalance may arise from industrial nature. For example, it is common for manufacturing sectors to hire many more male labor than female.

the interesting thing is that the gender imbalance situation now happens in nearly ALL industries!  No matter it is manufacturing sector or services sector, the 9:1 ratio still applied. It seems to me that MNC/foreign companies prefer to hire local females rather than hire local males.

Anyone can tell me is it really the case? why equal opportunities commission keep silence for this matter but only require HKers not discriminate against mainland Chinese?

You are right. At my current industry, male still dominate the in the work place, making around 7:3 ratio roughly. But i can see the trend that marketing departments started hiring more females and at some brands, it is full of girl when they know nothing about the products. Weird.

Yup it somehow impacts my mind but actually everyone of us know why it's so. We could do nothing to change it and... need not to change it. It is just it is.

Your observation seems verybiased and inaccurate.
If you look at the population staistics, you would see that it is impossible that there would be a 9:1 female to male ratio in the work force.

first thing, indeed my observation is not accurate. 9:1 is just a rough estimate coz i am not so stupid as to calculate how many local staff are female/male at my clients' offices!
Secondly, population statistics do nothing at this issue as i describe a phenomena only happening in HK branches of MNC/Foreign companies (sizable). Fortunately or unfortunately, since majority of HK labor are still working for local companies or SME, further discussion regarding the statistics seems pointless.
