Quiet day for surfacing fishing despite the good weather, but a good looking 11.5 pounds mirror made up for the slow session.  Fished on the top with floating beef-flavoured dog pellets.

Dry dog-food bought from a supermarket.  Very cheap bait, and stays on the hook (hair) better than bread.

How to hook the bait?

Hair-rig using a baiting needle.  This pellet is quite soft, but with harder pellets (such as floating trout pellets), use a bait drill to make a hole first.

With smaller pellets or dog biscuits, use either a bait-band to the hair or hook, or file a small indent on the pellet and use superglue to stick it to the side of a small hook (size 10 or smaller).
