I'm a penultimate year law student studying in the UK and I have received offers from the London offices of MC firms & city firms and the Hong Kong offices of MC firms for Vac Schemes/internships (through official applications, not referrals or connections). Since Hong Kong schemes are generally four weeks long and the UK ones are typically 2 or 3 weeks long, accepting a HK vac scheme offer would mean forgoing 1-2 UK vac scheme(s) due to overlapping dates.

Would it be advisable to accept UK offers or HK offers? Also, would it leave a bad impression if I turn down the vac scheme offer but still apply for a TC at the same firm in the future (if I unfortunately fail to secure a TC through my Summer VS)?

Would be great if anyone could tell me about their experience of participating in HK or UK vac schemes!

Personally I think UK firms offer more international opportunities (HK offices seem to focus much more on HK/mainland deals or transactions) and well-organised/structured training programmes, and the hours seem to be better in the UK with more emphasis on work-life balance. Yet if you take income tax into account you earn less in the UK in comparison to the same trainee/NQ/PQE level in HK.
