Precise Pangolin默認用Unity界面，配置差啲都hihi啦。而且每版LTS只有3年support, 依家已經out咗。

不如ching試吓裝Lubuntu 16.04 LTS(Xenial Xerus)。界面輕量化咗，行得順過Unity好多嘎。

只係個圖象介面太過食資源
可以試用輕量些的
如Xfce, LXDE, Fluxbox

我剛剛安裝了 16.04 alternative. 我係新手，可唔可以向師兄請教

In the software center, there is only feww applications. I could not find anything like pdf,  office... Etc

You may google them with keywords like "PDF Ubuntu 16.04" or "Office Xenial Xerus" to find out what name should be used in the software center.  I used to install Ubuntu via Live DVD, but alternative should give you some control on what software you want.

不過建議你開個終端機

In alternative installer, there is no option of it. However i found libre office from synaptic control, not in software center

GUI select the apps you need, then calculate the total spaces needed for storage.  You CAN do it.:smile_34:

What i want of Linux is Ubunte series (the latest LTS)

That's why the only option is Lubuntu alternate. As per the inf i posted previously, Lubuntu desktop request 4.3GB space for installation.

試下用LUBUNTU(用舊版Lubuntu 可能比較沒咁食資源)， FIREFOX CACHE 改用RAM ， 唔用HARDDISK.
(我以前用手指裝LUBUNTU 都一樣好順)

當年部機的電腦配備：celeron dual core cpu 2.6GHZ, USB 2.0, 1G RAM,另加usb  wifi 手指

我現在都正在嘗試中，ssd harddisk安裝了Lubuntu 16.10 alternative . 一分鐘內，boot 起，都流暢

Sd卡 安裝了 Xubuntu 16.04 LTS , 兩分鐘內 boot 起。都可以接受的流暢


只不過 最初時 不知何故 software center 找不到要用的程式。但卻可以在synaptic control 內裏 enable 有關的程式 (原來已裝了, 不知何故不顯示在software center)

不過有高手過份好心，死硬地要我用舊版。根本現在在新版，運作流暢。何故要用舊版呢？
講真，我公司部新電腦行win7，都要用一分鐘 boot 起！


我知他真心幫助我，不知何故他要我100% 跟足他 (最初我請教他的問題就是如何安裝程式，據我了解舊版使用synaptic or shell mode, 新版可以像android從software center安裝). 不過對我，只要裝到便可以

最新版Ｌubuntu  １６.04最基本要有700 MB of RAM,  14.04 基本要有256 MB of RAM, 舊版要既ＲＡＭ少好多，　如果ＲＡＭ唔多用舊版可能好Ｄ(但你用ＳＳＤ，將ＳＳＤ當ＲＡＭ咁用，所以ＲＡＭ少既影響應該唔大), 不過14.04 好似只support 到2017年, 用最新16.04 ＳＵＰＰＯＲＴ時間會到2019年，　如果長期使用最新版比較好。
（Lubuntu 16.10印象中好似只ＳＵＰＰＯＲＴ到１０月，我用過14.04 & 14.10, 感覺ＸＸ.10系順過ＸＸ.04的版本)

用新版定舊版都沒所謂，只要自己接受到, OK就得。 另外，　linux 都好多種類，　要小巧，　可以玩slitax，puppy linux，　不過呢兩款沒XXbuntu 系列咁似window (其實我用左linux 都系年半左右，　算系初哥)

原來16.10這麼快完結，我還以為會比16.04長久d , 或者會改為lts.

你所說就是我選新版本的原因。雖然看似舊版用少啲資源，但當upgrade後，又或者做文書處理，這樣就不能compatible ms office

我部機有1GB RAM. 我自己冇 set virtual memory。不過我開了1GB swp partition on SD card

其實我冇詳細研究，只當普通微軟win安裝方法。

我二十年冇用Linux, 當時 win x 才剛剛開始。我都冇自己部電腦，當時是用我的朋友在理工的account

所以操作概念完全不同。想當年蘋果推行window系統，主要操作對象是說英語的小孩便可以駕馭操作系統


現在的，是混合式。我會形容為 low level  windows。好像本文內我來我的留言, 在software centre找不到的軟件，原來已經安裝了，但要前往另外一個程式去enable。但不知何故沒有在software center內顯示。

That's the release date, not the Release End Of Life date.  

FYR: [url]https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases[/url], check Ubuntu 15.10, the REOL is July 2016.  That means you have 9 months to use it with support.

我有兩點想回覆：

１.但當upgrade後，又或者做文書處理，這樣就不能compatible ms office　
＝＝》　Upgrade 後可不可compatible ms office，　我覺得軟件影嚮大Ｄ，　照計Ｕpgrade 後，仍然有libre office, 再唔系，就安裝WPS, WPS 兼容性好似比libre office好。　（如果要upgrade 系統，　建議delete 左個舊系統，　由０開始。　聽聞由舊系統自行升級，好多問題產生）

2.Ｓoftware centre找不到的軟件，原來已經安裝了，但要前往另外一個程式去enable。但不知何故沒有在software center內顯示。
＝＝》　你個enable是指安裝嗎？　還是執行個軟件？
我印象中software centre 好似得安裝＆移除程式。　我記得個軟件系邊度安裝，　就系邊度移除，　如果系software center安裝，　就系software center移除。　　如果執行個軟件，　要系第二Ｄ地方，呢似ＷＩＮＤＯＷ　咁系《開始》果度。
