With respect to being trampled on the ground, three deep refers to 3 layers of people being stacked on top of each other (人疊人)

打蛇餅 is lateral me thinks

corwin 2018-5-2 03:38 AM

So is 人山人海

.kaxka.. 2018-5-2 05:02 AM

How about 疊羅漢?

我諗無乜人會用疊羅漢來描述多人?

hamsterman 2018-5-2 05:53 AM

By “trampled” there’s an implication that the folks were “stacked” horizontally, not vertically...

Is it better?

人疊人 is the right term but what about 3 tiers?

The words that came to my mind were “human pyramids” for 疊羅漢 (not necessarily meaning a lot of people), which seems applicable to the OP’s described situation

How would you rewrite the original using “3 tiers”?

Why do you think there is a directl translation of an adjective or a phrase?

我看英文賽馬評述文章,常看到 three deep/wide,four deep/wide 等用語。
例如 :
The horse was running three deep/wide at the turn.

我留意到香港馬會網上中文用「三叠」來譯 three deep/wide。

建議翻譯如下:
「你有沒有聽到?銀行裡發生人踩人意外,有人被踩踏致死。櫃檯前地上人叠人,有三層高。」

Yeah, this seems much more reasonable.
"three deep" is similar to "three lines".

Thanks a lot:loveliness:
