if you are talking about use it while playing instruments, you definitelly need several features:

1. The screen should be big enough, so that you don’t need to bend down to watch and you don’t need to scroll too frequentlly for a long scores.

2. A bluetooth link should be available for using a remote controller pedal to scroll while your hands are busy playing instruments.

3. A less light reflective screen to prevent the bright light at the stage disturbing your reading.

4. Be quick enough to scroll the music scores, but not too quick. I had met a musician who said that the flashing between the two pages, as we know that is the natural thing of an eink screen, notified him that the page had already been turned to the next one. And he thought that was exactlly the feature he wanted while he was playing his instrument because that reduce the chances to make mistake. So he refused to use the new A2 mode to reduce the turning flashing.

I have been using a 12.9" Ipad Pro for my recitals in the past years.  Like most musicians, I use an app called ForScore to manage all the music.  The app supports Apple pencil for annotation.  For page turning, I use the Pageflip Firefly.  It runs on AA batteries and it lasts a loooooong time.  So far I have not experienced any BT disconnection.

In addition to screen size, aspect ratio is equally important. The Boox Max Pro and Ipad Pro come with a 4:3 ratio (instead of the 16:9 ratio for most android tablets and cell phones).  With proper cropping, the music can look pretty much the same as what you get on a letter-size paper.

The foot pedal makes performing long pieces much easier.  Last year I performed the Schumann D-minor violin sonata and the first movement is long with little to no pause.  With the foot pedal, I do not need to worry about page turn problem.  I wish I had this when I performed the Saint-Saëns D-minor violin sonata years ago...

Like any tools and skills, you will need to practice with them.  The pedal does take some time to get used to.  Fortunately, I pick up the rhythm very quickly.

Annotation on ForScore is just fun: markings in different colors, highlighting, annotating with music fonts, etc.  You can make your annotated music look exactly like a printed copy while you can still make handwritten annotation.  In addition, if you are asked to play something on the spot, you can use forScore to scan (photography) and edit (contrast, tilt correction, brightness, etc.) the music and you can use it immediately on your side.

While I agree on all Professor Khachatryan said in the video, there is one thing a lot of Asians like to do that cannot be done on the Onyx Boox Max 2: annotating music in color (line and highlight).  I used to have a stationary box in my music bag just for that.  Now I just need my Apple pencil.

As always, your mileage may vary. :loveliness:
