Bin 28 and 128 is cooking wine , slow cook ox tail sauce.

It seems there’s no 707 made in 2017 so all fruit went into 407.

Tried the 407 last weekend along with st Henri and bin 389, the 407 reminds me of the bin 9 in 2012, strong vintage so the grapes are in great shape, but in 2017 Vintage not all vineyards are good in south aust. Quality is down. St Henri will be my pick out of the 3. Bin 389 just good but not exciting , can’t see a X factor in this vintage.

I only went to free tasting for those, haven’t bought any penfolds for a few years.

According to vintage reports , south Australia is a very good year in 2004. I’m not sure how penfolds are rated by others outside Australia , but lots of good reviews are rated by Australian wine critics.

2004還是很硬。 當晚要2個多小時才開。

So far, bin28 is one of my favourite wine. I had 98, 99, 01, 02, 07, 08. I didn't try 04, but the review is 90pts, fact checked yesterday.
for good year Penfolds area (SA), I will say 98, 99, 08.

The last bin28 I had was 98’ because after the 98 vinage , the fruit from bin28 went into the Rwt shiraz, from 99’ bin 28 uses different vineyard fruits , it’s different.

If you only look at the the scores , it doesn’t tell you how the vintage was like, 2012 vintage is consider one of the best since the 96’ and 98’ but the score doesn’t relate to the vintage. 2008 is a mix vintage, not all are good. The penfolds winemaker Peter Gago was very surprise himself when someone rated the grange 100 points.
