The intended learning outcomes of this assessment are as follows.
[list][*]To apply measurement rules as stipulated in the Hong Kong Standard Methods of Measurement (4th Edition) (HKSMM4) to identify the different elements of substructure.[*]To take off the quantities of the substructure[/list]
Firstly, you need to read the Drawings provided to identify the different elements of the substructure as stipulated in the Hong Kong Standard Methods of Measurement (4th Edition) (HKSMM4). After identification of various items, you need to take off quantities and to complete the measurement in accordance with the HKSMM4. Finally, you are required to write descriptions with the use of the Drawings (Attachment A) provided.
[b]Assessment task description[/b]
[b][u]Task A: Identify the different elements of the substructure using Hong Kong Standard Methods of Measurement (4th Edition) (HKSMM4)[/u][/b]
[list][*]You are required to identify the different elements of substructure based on the HKSMM4 using the classification table.[*]All the identified elements should reflect in the TO list and then should be measured.[/list]
[b][u]Task B: Take off quantities for the substructure using the Drawings[/u][/b]
[list][*]You have to take off quantities for each of the items identified in Task A.[*]While taking off you have to use HKSMM4 concurrently to make sure that you are using the measurement rules appropriately.[*]Finally, you have to make sure that the taken-off quantities are accurate and sufficient to complete the work.[/list]
[b][u]Task C: Write comprehensive descriptions for each of the items[/u][/b]
[list][*]While taking off you are required to write comprehensive descriptions for each of the taking of items.[*]These descriptions should include the kind and quality of materials together with the quotes given in HKSMM4.[*]Further, these descriptions should be clear, concise and should follow an appropriate sequence based on HKSMM4.[/list]
[b][u]Task D: Use the QS paper appropriately[/u][/b]
[list][*]You have to make sure that all the taken off quantities and descriptions are entered into the QS paper appropriately.[*]And the QS paper should be clean and tidy for checking with sufficient space between two different items.[*]Finally, you are required to square the quantities for each of the items.[/list]
[b][u]Task E: Raise queries if any information is missing on the Drawings ([/u][/b][b][u]Attachment A[/u][/b][b][u])[/u][/b]
[list][*]While taking off it is very common to have unclear or not specified information on the drawings. In this case use the course discussion board for Assignment 1 in Canvas to raise queries.[*]You are required to follow the course discussion board although you didn’t ask any query.[*]The answers given on the course discussion board might be vital to complete the assignment.[*]At the end you are required to mention all the information extracted from the course discussion board together with any assumptions you made while taking off into the query sheet.[*]You are required to submit a comprehensive query sheet along with the submission.[/list]
[b][u]Task F: Provide a scanned copy of the measurements[/u][/b]
• You are required to get manual measurements if any dimension is not give on the drawing. In this case you might have to create a scale to get the correct dimension.
• Further, you might be using different colour coding to highlight different sections measured.
• All these working drawings should be submit along as a scanned PDF file.
收到份 Measurement 既功課，佢要求我地用 QS Paper 度數，要度附件中個份野既數
當中包括 Excavation, Backfilling, In-situ concrete, structural steel, formwork 等等
但我地份 notes 根本冇一個例子教我地點做
有冇人知係點樣做？
