The Endless Archive is a solo or duo PvE activity that features random waves of enemies and a selection of bosses from different parts of The Elder Scrolls Online. You can access the Endless Archive for free with the Update 40 base-game patch.
Your progress in the Endless Archive is tracked by how many Stages, Cycles, and Arcs you have completed. Every two Stages, you will encounter a boss to finish a Cycle. Defeating this boss will give you a Muniment Chest, which contains currency and rewards.
After completing 5 Cycles, you will face the Arc boss, Tho'at Replicanum. If you manage to defeat her, you will get a special Muniment Chest that contains class set items, increase your Arc count, and raise the rewards and enemy difficulty for the rest of your Archive run. You can keep going until you run out of lives and the Threads of Fate are cut.
You can also compete with other players on the Endless Archive Leaderboards. There are separate leaderboards for solo players and duo/companion players.
You can fast travel to the Endless Archive by selecting the Endless Archive Icon on the Apocrypha map. If you own Necrom, you can also find the entrance to the Endless Archive Northeast of Cipher's Midden in Apocrypha.
The Hub of the Archive
The Index Chamber is a hub area where you can start or end your Endless Archive run, buy items from merchants, and accept quests.
To start your Endless Archive run, interact with the console in the middle of the Index Chamber.
In the northwest corner, you can reset your Endless Archive instance by interacting with the Reset Hourglass. This will make you leave the Endless Archive and reset your run's progress, lives, and instance buffs.
On the east side of the central console, you can end your Endless Archive run early by interacting with Runic Thread Weaver. This will use up all your remaining lives and post your score to the leaderboard.
Merchants are located in the north and east corners of the Index Chamber, selling gear, upgrades, and more, including a weekly rotating stock of special items.
Return to the Hub
You can return to the Index Chamber at the beginning of each Stage. Your progress will be saved as long as you do not travel by wayshrine, disconnect, or leave the Endless Archive instance for more than five minutes.
Earn Archival Fortunes
You can earn Archival Fortunes by completing various activities in the Archive. You can get Archival Fortunes by defeating bosses, killing special enemies, and completing side encounters. ESO Plus subscribers get an extra 10% Archival Fortunes. You can use Archival Fortunes to buy gear, upgrades, and more from the merchants in the Index Chamber.
Discover Hidden Portals
During an Endless Archive run, each time you finish a Stage, you might have the chance to explore hidden portals within the Endless Archive for extra rewards. To enter these portals, look for a second portal near the main portal that takes you to the next stage.
Verses appear at the end of each Stage. Verses provide significant short-term help, do not stack, and last only until the next Stage.
Visions appear at the end of each boss fight – Cycles and Arcs. Visions provide longer-term help during an Archive run. These buffs can stack and last for the whole Endless Archive run.
A Never-Ending Adventure
With its flexible structure, varied foes, and unique rewards, the Endless Archive offers endless replayability to your PvE experience. Dive into its depths alone or with a friend and see what dangers and rewards await you in this exciting base-game activity – good luck!
